Ethiopian Civil Society Organizations Council (ECSOC) is a statutory operating as a wholly independent institution. As per CSOs Proclamation 113/2019, the Council has the following powers & functions:

I. Enact the Code of Conduct for the sector and devise enforcement mechanisms

II. Advise the Authority for Civil Society Organizations (ACSO) on the registration and administration of CSOs,

III. Represent the civil society sector, and

IV. Coordinate the civil society sector
